Blue Spring State Park

Bulow Creek State Park
3351 Old Dixie Hwy., Ormond Beach. (904) 676-4040. The dominant feature of this park is the 800-year old Fairchild live oak, a monument to the vitality of the land.

Bulow Plantation Ruins State Historic Site
P.O Box 655, Bunnell. (904) 517-2084. Ruins of a coquina sugar mill, destroyed during the Second Seminole Indian War.

Canaveral National Seashore
308 Julia St., Titusville. (321) 267-1110. Part of a barrier island with 24 miles of undeveloped beach and wetland environment, the park offers sanctuary for more than 1,000 species of plants and 300 species of birds.

De Leon Springs State Recreation Area
601 Ponce De Leon Blvd, De Leon Springs. (904) 985-4212. De Leon Springs delivers millions of gallons of water daily; visitors can explore by swimming, canoeing, or a nature trail.

Fort Pierce Inlet State Recreation Area
905 Shorewinds Drive, Fort Pierce. (561) 468-3985. This 348-acre park of beach, dunes and coastal hammock includes nearby Jack Island, a favorite with birdwatchers.

Hontoon Island State Park
2309 River Ridge Rd., DeLand. (904) 736-5309. Once inhabited by Timucuan Indians, this island was also a dry cattle ranch and pioneer homestead. Now accessible by private boat or ferry.
 
Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail
(800) 871-4403. A 110-mile trail with panoramic views of the lake, marshes, waterbirds and wildlife.

Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, P.O. Box 488, DeLeon Springs. (904) 985-4673. Visitors can walk on nature trails through pine and hardwood forests in this 19,000-acre refuge.

Kissimmee Prairie State Preserve
25 mi. NW of Okeechobee via Hwy. 441 and CR 724. Okeechobee. (941) 462-5360. Preserve with rich variety of flora and fauna.

McKee Botanical Gardens
350 U.S. HWY 1, Vero Beach. (561) 794-0601. Currently under restoration, this public garden was originally founded in 1932. Call for public tours schedule.

Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge

One of Florida's premier wildlife viewing areas, the refuge features marshes and uplands surrounding Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon, Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge.

Sebastian Inlet State Recreation Area

Tomoka State Park

Turkey Creek Sanctuary
